AQA - A Level
Art design students will actively engage in the creative process of art including
practical and contextual work in one or more of the three main specialist areas; fine
art (painting, drawing, sculpture etc), three-dimensional design (product design,
architecture, interior design etc.) or photography. Students are encouraged to
use a full range of processes and media to fully experiment with traditional and
contemporary processes to be able to develop portfolios of work and a contextual
journey. This area of study if facilitated with the very best industry standard
equipment and software. This is a very flexible course intended to allow students
to develop creative, imaginative and intuitive capabilities and style in readiness for
their next steps.
What you will learn:
• Develop ideas through investigations, demonstrating critical understanding of
sources in historical and contemporary contexts
• Refine work by exploring ideas, selecting and experimenting with appropriate
media, materials, techniques and processes
• Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions as work
progresses
• Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and
demonstrates understanding of visual language
• Acquire technical skills through working with a broad range of media, processes
and technologies
Course Breakdown
This two-year linear course
comprises:
Component 1
Portfolio of work 60%. Including
one sustained personal
investigation

Externally set task 40%, personal
investigation including a 15-hour
practical assessment.
Film Studies
Eduqas - A Level
Film Studies offers the chance to explore one of the most influential art forms
of the modern era. You’ll study a wide variety of films, ranging from Hollywood
blockbusters to global, independent, documentary, silent and experimental cinema,
while developing the skills to analyse and create films yourself. The course blends
critical study with hands-on creativity, making it both intellectually challenging and
practically rewarding.
What you will learn:
• Explore films from different traditions and periods, from classic Hollywood to
independent, global and experimental works
• Understand how social, cultural, political and historical contexts shape film and
audience response
• Build critical and analytical skills through close study of film form, style and
theory
• Create your own work through screenwriting or filmmaking, with opportunities
to reflect on and evaluate your practice

Performing Arts

This dynamic and practical course is designed for students who are passionate
about performance and want to develop their skills in acting, dance, or musical
theatre. This Performing Arts course combines practical training with theoretical
understanding, preparing students for further education or a career in the creative
industries. Students will explore a variety of performance styles, work collaboratively
on productions and gain insight into the industry.
